Cables are the foundation of a network. If they are badly installed, even the best equipment will not work properly — and fixing them later, in the ground or inside a wall, is slow and expensive.
BBVision installs structured cabling in copper and fibre, from the links between buildings to the socket in the room. At Terra Park Phalaris we brought fibre to 68 premium mobile homes.
For most spaces, Cat6 and a gigabit network are enough. Where more is needed — for servers and the network backbone — Cat6a carries 10 Gbps over the full 100 metres.
For longer distances and links between buildings we use fibre: the signal travels as light, so it is immune to electrical interference and does not carry power surges from one building to the next. We splice and terminate the fibre ourselves. Cables are run neatly along trunking and trays, tied and labelled, so that years later everyone still knows what goes where.
Every cable is tested with a certification tester, and you receive the test reports at handover — so any problem is found by us rather than by your guests or staff.
Cable routes are planned before the work starts, and cables and ports are labelled. At handover you also receive the route plans and labelling tables, which makes any later expansion or servicing quicker and simpler.
A good network also needs the right equipment, set up properly: enough capacity for the peak of the season, security, and room to grow.
BBVision selects, installs and configures network equipment, and can maintain it afterwards. We work with MikroTik, Ubiquiti, HPE Aruba and WatchGuard equipment and choose what suits your needs and budget.
Managed switches split the network into VLANs: guests, staff, cameras and the till share the same equipment without seeing each other. If you have two internet connections, we can set up the router so the network switches to the backup line on its own when the main one fails.
A firewall protects the network from unauthorised access and only lets through the traffic that should pass. For businesses we also install WatchGuard firewalls with VPN.
For remote sites and working from home we set up secure VPN connections to your network, as we did for Porton Nature Hideouts. QoS rules give important traffic, such as calls from VoIP phones (e.g. Grandstream), priority over downloads and streaming.
We can also monitor the network remotely, so faults are spotted earlier and fixed faster.
