Data is the one thing you cannot buy again
You can replace a computer, a drive or a server in a day. Bookings, accounts, contracts and photos — not so easily. A failed drive, ransomware, an accidental delete or a lightning strike can take them in an instant.
BBVision sets up backups that run automatically and keep copies in more than one place, so your data can be restored when you need it. We work with Veeam and Synology.
The 3-2-1 rule and Synology NAS
We start from the proven 3-2-1 rule: three copies of your data, on two different types of media, with one copy kept off site.
For the local copy we use Synology NAS devices: drives in RAID protect against a single drive failure, and restoring from a local device is the fastest option.
The third copy is kept at another location or in the cloud, so a fire, flood or theft in one place cannot destroy every copy at once.
When something goes wrong
Together with you we write a recovery plan (disaster recovery): how much data you can afford to lose (RPO — for example, one day of work), how quickly you need to be up and running again (RTO), and who does what, in which order. That decides how often backups run and where the copies are kept.
A backup is only as good as the restore. That is why the system alerts us as soon as a backup fails, and we test restores regularly.
When needed, we restore from the nearest healthy copy: first from the NAS, and if that is gone too, from the offsite or cloud copy.
